Guidecap Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
Guidecap is a Chrome extension that turns your clicks into step-by-step guides with screenshots. It's built so that your guides never leave your computer.
What Guidecap stores, and where
While you are recording, and only then, Guidecap saves the following for each click:
- a screenshot of the visible part of the tab
- a short description of what you clicked, such as Click "Save settings"
- the position of the click and the page address
This data is stored only on your computer, in your browser's extension storage. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. Guidecap never records what you type into fields. Deleting a guide, or removing the extension, deletes this data.
Payments (Guidecap Pro)
Guidecap Pro is sold through ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe to take payments. If you buy Pro, ExtensionPay and Stripe handle your email address and payment details under their own privacy policies. We never see your card details.
To check whether Pro is unlocked, the extension contacts extensionpay.com with a random ID created for your installation. No guide content, screenshots or browsing data are included in that request.
What Guidecap does not do
- No analytics or tracking
- No ads
- No selling or sharing of data
- No uploading of screenshots or guides
Why Guidecap asks for access to websites
Chrome requires this permission so the extension can take screenshots and notice your clicks on the sites you choose to record. Guidecap does nothing on a page unless you have started a recording.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. For questions, use the Support tab on Guidecap's Chrome Web Store page.
